Florida Church Plans to Publicly Admonish Unrepentant Member

07 Jan

A 49-year-old Florida woman says her former church is threatening to reveal her sins to its congregation after learning that she is in a 'sexually immoral relationship.'

Yeah I get it. First you tell some one they are wrong, then bibically you can call them out in public. I understand what is said scripurally. This doesn't seem to be it.

The fact is that some church people love dirt. They love it; like a spritual version of getting punched in the nuts and people watching it on America's Funniest Videos. So they use the Bible to justify this sick impulse to see other's fail. When you read this story you see that the people of this particular church are "gently restoring" the lady, they're doing everything in their power to "expose" the sin.

I've seen church people at work; like everyone else in the world, they talk too much. I'm sure the whole church knows this lady's business! And is it helping her? No. She walks away from the church.

I don't condone adultry or fornication. The lady should just marry the guy if she loves him so much. However, she shouldn't be made the main event at a church who doesn't like she does when she has renounced her membership and affiliation with that church.

Marry the guy

Why should she have to marry the guy? She has renounced her membership and the church is still coming after her. Unfortunately, her two children still go to this church and will have to watch their mother be embarrassed in front of everyone. What about the guy? Are they coming after him too?

In the letter from the church, the elders referenced Matthew 18:16 and 18:17 as their moral compass on this issue. Well, why didn't they tell her to gouge out her eyes or cut off her hand? These are listed in Matthew too.

Are they really going to "call out" everyone having affairs? They are going to be busy..."No time for service this week, we have to follow the widow Jones to town. She may have sex with someone out of wedlock."
